A new musical instrument for iPad

Music is a space. Navigate it.

What if you could move through music as naturally as turning a dial? Axis Gemina opens a new way to explore, play and create — a musical universe you can see, hear and navigate beneath your fingertips.

Touch the disk or connect a MIDI keyboard. Turn the outer rim to transform keys, modes and running phrases in real time.

01 · The Gesture

One gesture. New musical worlds.

Set a musical phrase in motion, then turn the dial. Move the same loop into a different key, shift into a new mode around the same root note, or walk a held chord across the scale — without rewriting a single note.

02 · The Instrument

A different way to play.

Forget the idea that every key needs a different fingering. Touch the screen or connect a MIDI keyboard, and melodies, chords and tonal centers make immediate visual and musical sense.

01 · Touch & see

Harmony draws its own shape

Every note sits in a stable place across concentric octave rings. Play on the glass or from a MIDI keyboard and watch intervals light up as living polygons.

02 · One spatial language

Learn a pattern once. Play it anywhere

Chords and motifs keep the same physical geometry in every key. Engage SCALE LOCK so every touch lands cleanly in key, or open all twelve notes.

03 · Chords, HOLD & MIDI

Play standalone or drive your synths

Trigger diatonic triads, sevenths and arpeggios from the bottom strip, latch chords with HOLD, and send or receive live MIDI with your hardware and DAW.

From first discovery to musical mastery. Accessible before you know the theory — and endlessly deep when you do.

03 · Geometric Sequencing

Give music a shape. Let it move.

Intervals become distances. Chords become shapes. Set a path in motion and hear what happens as you turn the dial — the geometry isn't just something you see, it's something you play.

Geometric Paths · ○ · ⬡ · □ · △ · ☆ NOTES STAY STILL

Your notes stay anchored. The sequencer travels the geometry.

Select circle, hexagon, square, triangle or star paths (○ · ⬡ · □ · △ · ☆) and layer up to four live loops (L1–L4) with real-time quantization — the notes never scramble under your hands.

○ · ⬡ · □ · △ · ☆ PATHS 6 ORDER MAPS 4-TRACK LOOPER (L1–L4) STEP · QUANT
Living Shapes · △ · □ · ⬡ HOLD + RIM

Plant a geometric figure. Steer it with the dial.

Tap △, □ or ⬡ — or hold any chord — and let the sequencer walk its vertices in rhythm while you rotate or transpose it live from the outer rim.

04 · Inside the Instrument

A universe beneath the surface.

You don't need to understand the mathematics to experience the music — you just move and listen. Beneath the simplicity of a single dial lies a deep harmonic architecture.

Harmonic Balance

Ernő Lendvai's Axis System

Opposite seats on the circle embody the symmetrical axes of Tonic, Subdominant and Dominant — turning tritone and minor-third relationships into physical directions.

Symmetric Collections

Messiaen's modes at your fingertips

From the modes of the major scale to Olivier Messiaen's modes of limited transposition, symmetric collections appear as balanced geometric figures on the disk.

Geometric Harmony

Polygons you can see, hold and steer

Across seven concentric octave rings, triads, tetrads and hexachords (△ · □ · ⬡) become living shapes you can freeze with HOLD and rotate from the outer rim.

05 · Your Musical World

Play it. Connect it. Make it yours.

Explore freely on iPad, connect your MIDI keyboard, or drive external synthesizers and your DAW. Use it to improvise, compose, experiment or study.

01 · Standalone on iPad

Open the space and play anywhere

128 built-in instruments, expressive multitouch, the diatonic chord strip and live visual polygons — ready the moment inspiration strikes.

02 · With a MIDI Keyboard

See your playing light up the dial

Plug in any MIDI controller to visualize your chords and melodies as geometric shapes while using the iPad's rim to shift keys and modes on the fly.

03 · With Synths & DAWs

Steer your studio from a new compass

Send Axis Gemina's multitouch stage, chord strip and geometric sequencer over USB, Bluetooth or Network MIDI to your hardware synths and DAW.

Quick guide to the stage controls + / –
RIM · KEY SHIFT / MODE SHIFT

The outer dial operates in two ways: set RIM to KEY for Key Shift (transpose the entire space into any key), or switch to MODE for Mode Shift (keep your root note anchored and explore the modes around it).

SCALE · SCALE LOCK

Choose any scale, mode or symmetric collection (or CHROMA for all 12 notes). With SCALE LOCK on, both your touch and held shapes stay strictly inside the scale.

HOLD · △ · □ · ⬡

Freeze any chord on the stage or summon a triangular, square or hexagonal seed figure. Turn the outer rim to rotate or walk that figure across the scale (Chord Walk).

SEQ · LOOP (L1–L4)

Notes stay fixed on the stage while the sequencer travels along geometric paths (○ · ⬡ · □ · △ · ☆ or HOLD) and the 4-track looper (L1–L4) records and quantizes your phrases.

CHORDS · TRIAD / QUATRIAD / ARP

Play diatonic or custom chord families along the bottom strip, switch between TRIAD and QUATRIAD voicings, or arpeggiate them while watching their polygon light up on the disk.
